Suitability assessment
A student who poses a risk to the life, physical and mental health, rights, or safety of patients, users, kindergarten students, students, animals, clients, pet owners, or other individuals the student will come into contact with during practice or during future professional practice, is the primary objective of a suitability assessment.

Notification of suitability
Fill out the form (Norwegian Word document) with a description of the issues you're experiencing.
Use the secure eDialog link to submit the form. You can get in touch with the institution's suitability assessment officer if you have any questions.
A student who poses a possible danger to patients, users, kindergarten children, pupils or others during their studies or in future professional practice may not be suitable for the profession.
A notification of doubt may be submitted by any member of the teaching staff, including subject teachers and practice supervisors, as well as by students and administrative staff.
The person submitting the notification is not party to the case and is thus not entitled to receive feedback. The staff member responsible for suitability assessments at the institution will not consider notifications of doubt that are obviously unjustified.

- The employees at the faculty and the supervisors where the students have their internship, are responsible for evaluating the suitability of each student throughout their education. The evaluation of practice holds significant weight in an overall assessment because of the university's obligation to produce graduates with advanced degrees, see University and Colleges Act 12-3, second paragraph.
- An extraordinary suitability evaluation must be completed by the institution's suitability assessment officer. Generally, a report expressing doubt about the student's fitness is the first step in an extraordinary suitability evaluation; see University and College Act § 12-3, third paragraph, regulations for suitability assessment in higher education § 7-8.
- The Universities and Colleges Act § 12-3, third paragraph, regulations for suitability assessment in higher education § 7-9 state that if there is still doubt about the students' suitability after the case has been sufficiently investigated and clarified, it will be sent to the Suitability Committee and sent over for a tribunal evaluation at The Board for Student Affairs.
Write down your concerns and describe what led up to your doubts for the student’s ability to obtain the needed qualifications to execute the tasks sufficiently. Before you put in a notice of concern, provide the concerned student with feedback or assistance so that she/he is aware of the uncertainty and has the chance to learn from your feedback.
