The course covers the following topics:
Literature surveys
Extraction of essential information from larger bodies of publications
Synthesising this information into a written project report/paper.
Students enrolled in the MSc at Faculty of Biosciences and Aquaculture.

On successful completion of the course:
Knowledge
The student should:
- Have broad knowledge of theoretical and empirical aspects of a topic at Master¿s level within biology, chemistry or related topics.
- Be able to select the appropriate literature in order to understand a specific topic level within biology, chemistry or related topics.
Skills
The student should:
- Be able to explain important theoretical and empirical aspects of a topic at Master¿s level as described above.
- Be able to search for appropriate references
General competence
The student should:
- Be able to communicate orally important theoretical and empirical aspects of a topic at Master¿s level
- Be able to communicate in writing important theoretical and empirical aspects of a topic at Master¿s level
No tution fees. Semester registration and course literature.
Elective: Master in Biosciences and Nordic Master in Sustainable Production and Utilization of Marine Bioresources
Self-study with supervision
Mid-term oral evaluation with written report, and electronic evaluation at the end of the semester.
Composite assessment, grading rule Letter grades.
- Oral examination, accounts for 40/100 of the grade, grading rule Letter grades.
- Assignment, accounts for 60/100 of the grade, grading rule Letter grades.
