Course description for 2023/24
Cell- and Microbiology
BIO1005
The course gives an introduction to the structure and function of cells. You will learn how genetic information is transmitted from parents to offspring, the structure of DNA and how DNA is copied and transferred to RNA and proteins. Other main themes are signalling pathways, the immune system, viruses, bacteria and protists. Furthermore, an introduction is given on how infection can be prevented by good hygiene and asepsis.
The course gives an introduction to the structure and function of cells. Particular emphasis is placed on how genetic information is transmitted from parents to offspring, the structure of DNA and how DNA is copied and transferred to RNA and proteins. Basic knowledge of signalling pathways and the immune system. Basic knowledge of viruses, bacteria, protists, their structure and biology. Furthermore, an introduction is given on how infection can be prevented by good hygiene and asepsis.
The subject is reserved for the study programme Bachelor's degree in Circular Bioeconomy. Other students can get admitted if there are places available. Contact student advisor.
Students must meet current admission requirements for the associated study program.
