Didactics - Science
There are 4 PPUAs (Educational Theory and Practice for General Subjects) and group attendance is mandatory.
1. Academic year:
This course deals with the following didactic science topics:
• The place of science in schools and science as general education
• Science teacher competences
• Budding scientists and scientific working methods
• Using models in science subjects
• Aesthetic learning processes in science subjects; using drama and role-playing
• Assessment for learning in science subjects
• Basic skills in science subjects (complex skills and in-depth learning)
• Digital competence and digital learning processes in science subjects and teaching from viten.no and naturfag.no
• Curricula (central and local)
After completing the programme, candidates should have acquired the following knowledge, skills and competence:
Knowledge
• possess broad knowledge of cultural formation and education in a society based on democracy, sustainable development, diversity, equal status and equality
• possess broad knowledge about the history, place, rationale and progression of science
• possess broad knowledge about teaching, work and assessment methods in science subjects and how practical, digital, creative and aesthetic learning processes can affect health, well-being and learning
• possess broad knowledge about how to work on developing pupils' complex skills and in-depth learning in science subjects and in respect of the subject of education for sustainable development
Skills
• be able to plan, implement, assess and justify teaching in science subjects based on educational objectives and local and individual requirements
• be able to find, assess and refer to information and academic material and present this in a way which highlights an issue in R&D assignments
• be able to use varied and relevant methods and arenas when teaching and adapt subject teaching so that it takes into consideration the pupils’ different learning rates, interest in the subject and ability to engage in critical thinking
• be able to use digital resources that are key for teaching science
• be able to provide consecutive and final assessments, provide information about pupils’ academic levels and development and provide academic explanations about assessments
General competence
• be able to find their way around the didactic science literature, raise relevant issues, critically investigate and discuss these and develop their personal professional practices
• be able to plan and carry out varied, pupil-active, adapted and inclusive science teaching
• be able to take into account health, safety and the environment (HSE) in science education
• be able to contribute towards innovation processes and take responsibility for cooperation and development work that promotes academic and pedagogical innovation in education

OP assignment - marked with a grade of A-F
