Didactics - Music
This course provides students with perspectives on and specific tools for undertaking pedagogical music activities in lower and upper secondary schools in accordance with the current curriculum.
PPU (Educational Theory and Practice) requires extensive independent work and work in online learning groups.
After completing the programme, candidates should have acquired the following knowledge, skills and competence which will enable them to:
KNOWLEDGE
• be able to understand the importance of music for individuals, culture and society
• possess in-depth knowledge of the current music curriculum for primary and lower secondary schools ++
• be able to plan, facilitate, carry out and evaluate teaching and dissemination tasks in groups and classes
• possess knowledge about relevant solo and joint repertoires for the instrument/instrument group concerned and the principles relating to the choice of learning material and learning activities
• possess broad knowledge about the principles relating to adapted education possess in-depth knowledge about the cognitive, musical and creative development of children and adolescents, including motivation, learning and socialisation
SKILLS
• undertake practical work relating to the basic aspects of music and the relevant instruments in compulsory music teaching at primary and lower secondary schools
• be able to use different methods and working methods where play, imagination, innovation, improvisation and composition are central features
• be able to use varied and relevant methods in teaching in primary, lower and upper secondary education and cultural schools, adapted to the pupils' individual requirements
• be able to use digital resources and digital tools in music education
GENERAL COMPETENCE
• be able to discuss key didactic issues and challenges related to music as a subject in schools
• be able to initiate, plan and carry out project work and various forms of pedagogical music development work
• be able to participate in different collaborative processes and work independently with the pedagogical music material
• be able to reflect on ethical issues and display a professional ethical attitude in meetings with pupils, parents and colleagues
No fees other than semester fees and course literature. It is expected that students will have customised computers, webcams and headphones with microphones. Any travel and accommodation expenses incurred in connection with sessions shall also be covered by the students.
