ECO1015
The course provides an increased understanding of the challenges and opportunities related to innovative and circular procurement. The main focus is on how public sector organizations can use innovative and circular procurement to promote the green shift in the economy. The lectures in the course are distributed over 3 online meetings. The first meeting focuses on organizational factors that promote and hinder innovative and circular procurement in public organizations. The second meeting addresses the role that the individual's behavior, awareness, and attitudes play in the transition to more circular purchasing. The last meeting provides insight into a number of operational tools that can be used to operationalize circular practices in public procurement.
The course is only open to students who take the Procurement Management study program.
Admission takes place on the basis of general study competence or prior experiential learning in accordance with current rules.
Students completing the course, the candidate will:
Knowledge:
- Have broad knowledge of key topics, issues, processes, and tools related to innovative and circular procurement
- Be familiar with the literature on innovative and circular procurement
- Be able to independently update own knowledge on innovative and circular procurement
- Have knowledge of the subject area’s development and position in society
Skills:
- Be able to apply professional knowledge and relevant results from the literature on innovative and circular procurement to practical and theoretical issues and make reasoned choices
- Be able to reflect on her/his own professional practice and adjust it under supervision
- Be able to find, evaluate, and refer to information and course content and apply it in such way that addresses the problem statement
- Be able to master relevant professional tools and forms of expression
General competencies
- Have insight into relevant ethical issues related to the procurement process
- Be able to plan and carry out varied work tasks and projects that extend over time, alone, and as a participant in a group, and in line with ethical requirements and guidelines
- Be able to convey theories, problems, and solutions both in writing and orally
- Be able to exchange views and experiences with others regarding innovative and circular procurement and thereby contribute to the development of good practice
- Be able to search for, critically evaluate, and use information from various sources and professional literature to shed light on a case and discuss relevant problem statements
Paid semester fee and syllabus literature. It is also required that students have a laptop at their disposal.
Compulsory
Teaching is conducted through online classes.
Key topics are introduced in short teaching videos and followed by online seminars that include assignments/exercises. High student activity is expected during online seminars. The online seminars are used to briefly go through new theory and to discuss key concepts with students. The seminars also comprises selected case assignments that address the key issues in the course.
In this course, there are three online seminars; each of which lasts approx. 3 hours. The teaching videos are between 10 and 20 minutes long.
The study programme is evaluated annually by students by way of course evaluation studies. These evaluations are included in the universitys quality assurance system.
Home exam - individual, 6 hours, grading scale A-E for pass, F for fail.
