Practical innovation management and design of innovation
ENT5002
This course covers methods and tools applied to enable organisations to successfully develop new business models based on innovation, new knowledge and technology. The course will in particular address these issues from the perspective of established organisations; however, start-up perspectives will also receive attention. The course will be characterised by interaction between teamwork on practical cases, student presentations, lectures and case teaching. This will expose students to various contexts that when combined with theoretical lectures will provide the students with practical skills and theoretical knowledge in innovation management and design of innovation processes

Must fulfill the requirements for admission to the two year Master of Science in Business program.
Upon successful completion of this course, the students:
Knowledge:
- Has theoretical knowledge of how organisations can embark on success with innovation-based business development, including knowledge of what inhibits/promotes innovation-based business development in organisations
- Can act as professional support for organisations undertaking to succeed with innovation-based business development
Skills:
- Has developed practical skills making him or her able to contribute in processes related to innovation-based business development in both new and well-established organisations.
- Has thorough knowledge of selected tools and work methods that make the organisation better equipped to succeed in its innovation-based business development. This includes state-of-the-art methods for formulating and implementing strategies, operational analysis, organisational design and feasibility analysis of ideas for innovation.
- Has the skills to analyse investment decisions related to innovation-based business development, including the skills to create a prospectus and presentation of a case
- Has practical as well as theoretical skills acquired through lectures and case teaching (using cases from a variety of contexts) and working in a group on a given case.
General competence:
- Has knowledge of how to assess internal as well as external ideas for potential new innovations, funding of innovation-based business development and presentation of innovation cases

Elective
Teaching methods will mainly be based on case teaching, flipped classroom pedagogy and `design thinking¿ where students actively participate in teaching and where teaching is based on students being prepared for each session. MOOC¿s will also be incorporated. Students should expect to spend significant amounts of time to prepare before each session.
Evaluation using mid-term and final surveys. Students are also encouraged to participate in the central quality surveys.
