Geographic Information Handling
The subject is reserved for students of the following study programmes:
- Nature Management, Bachelor's Programme
Other students must apply for the study programme Geographic Information Systems.
After completing the course, the student will have achieved the following learning outcomes:
Knowledge:
- explain the elements of a GIS: data foundation, software, hardware, expertise, and organization
- describe selected geographic information available in Norway and their applications
- explain various analysis methods for vector and raster data in geographic information
Skills:
- handle data foundation through downloading, structuring, storage, usage, and updating
- apply various analysis methods based on vector and raster data
- utilize techniques to achieve effective cartographic presentation
- assess the quality of data foundation and analysis results
General competence:
- explain the process in complex projects, from problem formulation through data collection to analysis and presentation of results
- evaluate ethical aspects of data collection and presentation of results
- exchange viewpoints and experiences with others in the field
Compulsory Work- Approved/ Not approved. Must be passed prior to the examination.
Written examination, 3 hours. Grading scale A-F.
Only aids awarded are allowed to be use and pen, ruler and up to 2 bilingual dictionaries.
