Quality Management in Aquaculture

HAV2020
Quality management is an important tool for the aquaculture industry. Both to ensure quality in all stages of production, as well as to ensure that all legal requirements are met. This course gives you a practical approach to quality management.
The subject will give the students an understanding of principles and systems for quality management, what is quality, continuous quality improvement, risk management and preparedness. The subject also focuses on standards managed by law such as HACCP and internal control systems (i.e. IK-AKVA), as well as voluntary industry standards for the aquaculture industry.

After completing the course, the student will have the following knowledge, skills and general competence:

Knowledge:

• has broad knowledge of key principles for quality management within the aquaculture industry

• has knowledge of statutory requirements within quality management

Skills:

• can apply professional knowledge to participate in building up quality systems in farming companies

• through process management, ensure that statutory quality measures are followed up at your own workplace

General competence:

• can exchange views and experiences with others with a background in quality management, and through this contribute to the development of good practice

• can reflect on own professional practice when planning and building quality systems, and adjust this under guidance

Elective
Evaluation using mid-term and final surveys. Students are also encouraged to participate in the central quality surveys.
