- The French Revolution 1789-1815
- The Haitian Revolution
- The Napoleonic Wars
- The Congress of Vienna and the European Revolutions of the 1840s
- Nationalism, Colonialism, Imperialism
- The Two World Wars
- The principal trends of political and economic development during the inter-war period: (the Russian Revolution, the Versailles peace, fascism and National Socialism, the relations between the major powers until the Second World War)
- The Global Cold War 1945-1990
- Decolonization
Knowledge
- The student should acquire a basic knowledge of central events and development processes regarding the economic, social and political history of Europe from 1750 till 2000.
- This will include knowledge of major social and cultural institutions and the relationships between these, throughout the period. The development of Europe will be considered in a global context.
Abilities
- Students should be able to discuss historical problems and reach their own conclusions.
General competence
- Students should be able to access a comprehensive scientific literature, to review relevant knowledge from the literature and to argue for their own conclusions in written work.

Essays, comments on other students work.
Annual evaluations which are included in the university's quality assurance system.
Students should be prepared to read some of the required literature in English.
