Animal Health and Welfare
Upon successful completion of this course, the student is expected to posess the following:
Knowledge:
- Has thorough knowledge of key terms, assessments and issues related to health and disease in general
- Has basick knowledge of key diseases occurring or that may occur among the following kinds of livestock: cattle, horse, pig, sheep, goat, poultry, dogs and cats
- Has basic knowledge in animal welfare, both in general and specifically related to livestock
- Has knowledge of key laws and regulations related to issues in animal health and aninal welfare
- Has knowledge of key research areas in animal health and animal welfare
Skills:
- Can account for reasons why various diseases arise and occur in livestock
- Can conduct analyses and make simple calculations related to disease and health
- Can propose potential solutions to relevant health challenges based on knowledge and analytical skills
- Can analyse and make simple calculations on issues related to the animal welfare of livestock
General competence:
- Has knowledge of and developed the ability to reflect upon and assess issues where animal health and welfare of livestock is a key component
- Is able to propose preemptive measures to prevent diseases and animal welfare issues for livestock
- Has the knowledge and skills required to communicate about issues and potential solutions in the field in a clear and comprehensible way
Due to the Covid-19 epedemic, a number of assessments and exams at Nord University has been changed.
Changes are made in accordance with the Temporary Regulations on Supplements to Regulation 31/01/2019 no. 63: Concerning Studies and Examinations at Nord University - Extraordinary Measures as a Result of the Coronavirus Epidemic- according to §2 of the Corona Epidemic, Assessment Methods, Sections 1-3
To accommodate this, the form of assessment will be changed from Written School examination to Take-home Examination on this course in the spring of 2020
