Livestock Housing 1
The course provides an introduction to the following subject areas ralated to livestock buildings:
- building materials
- building construction
- indoor machanization and logistics
- ventilation and heat balance
- economics of investment
- building regulations
Upon completion of the course, the student is expected to:
Knowledge:
- has knowledge of building materials, construction techniques, constructions and construction regulations for livestock buildings
- has knowledge of equipment for indoor mechanization of livestock buildings
- has knowledge of how air flows in a livestock room is affected by the ventilation technique
- has knowledge of key research and development work in the subject area
Skills:
- has knowledge of various construction principles for livestock buildings and be able to discuss choice of construction methods
- can compose alternative lines of mechanization and calculate investment costs
- can plan and dimention ventilation in livestock buildings and calculate heat balance
General competence:
- have insight into alternative building and mechanization solutions for animal husbandry and can discuss solutions with professionals in the industry
- has expertise in how the choice of materials and ventilation affects the indoor climate in farm buildings
Compound assessment, letter grades
- Work requirements - approved at least 75% of defined mandatory activities, comprises 0/100 of the grade, grading scale approved/ not approved. Must be passed prior to submission of the written examination.
- Written examination, 3 hours, comprises 100/100 of the grade, letter grades.
Written school exam: Pen, ruler, up to 2 bilingual dictionaries and calculator.
