Knowledge:
Students will:
-have knowledge about what the concept of adapted training and sports entails for people with special needs
-have knowledge about how to create training programmes for people with special needs.
-have knowledge about different categories of special needs
-have knowledge about planning activities and training for people who have different types of needs compared to the main groups of athletes - have knowledge about how to instruct in relation to adapted training.
-have knowledge about the reasons why athletes have special needs -Have knowledge about different sports/activities that are adapted for athletes with special needs
Skills
Students:
- can analyse and assess the adaptational needs of individual athletes/clients in relation to training.
-can recognise and initiate measures for athletes with adaptational needs
-can reflect on their own practice in relation to the course
-can create training programmes for athletes/clients with adaptational needs
-can evaluate training and adapt it based on the needs of athletes
-can identify what athletes with special needs should work on to achieve their goals
-can help athletes/clients with special needs to identify their goals regarding the sport/activity.
General competence
Students will:
-Have a conscious attitude towards their own role in relation to athletes/clients with special needs
-Be able to reflect on ethical challenges in connection with talent selection.
-Be able to reflect on ethical challenges in relation to working with athletes/clients with special needs
-Be able to use their analytical ability and research expertise to develop new knowledge about training for people with special needs.
Composite assessment:
- Portfolio - 4 pieces of written work to be answered in groups of up to two candidates. Guidance is given on the work. The candidate finally delivers an overall portifolio and is given an overall grade, represents 50/100 of the grade, grading scale A-E, Best A, Fail F.
- Written examination, 4 Hours. Represents 50/100 of the grade. Grading scale A-E, Best A, Fail F.
- Compulsory participation 80%. Grading scale: approved/not approved.
NOTE: Spring 2022: The written school examination has been changed to home examination. The duration of the exam has changed to 3 hours.
Changes are done due to the Covid-19 epidemic, in accordance with the “Provisional Regulation on a Supplement to Regulations of 28/10/2020 no. 2474 Relating to Studies and Examinations at Nord University - Extraordinary Measures as a consequence of the Coronavirus pandemic” - according to Section 2 Forms of assessment 1-4.
Overlap refers to a similarity between courses with the same content. Therefore, you will receive the following reduction in credits if you have taken the courses listed below:
IDR2022 - Strength and Conditioning for Special Populations - 10 credits
IDR2023 - Physical activity and training for children and adolescents - 5 credits
