Game Based Learning

The aim of this course is to develop understanding of the learning qualities of computer games, and how they can be used in teaching and instructional settings to create variety and motivation for learning. Furthermore, we look at the various opportunities of mobile technology. The course is part of Nord University's international offering and are taught in both Norwegian and English.
Knowledge
Upon completion of the course the student will:
- Have insight into the use of computer games in teaching, and how it may be anchored in pedagogical theory.
- Have insight into educational frameworks for the use of mobile technology
Skills
Upon completion of the course the student will:
- Be able to analyse educational potential in computer games
- Be able to utilize augmented reality applications for training and instructional purposes
General competence
Upon completion of the course the student will:
- Reflect on innovative trends in ICT-supported learning
- Could use new technology as an educational resource
