Skills development for individual sports focuses on practical training and development of personal proficiency in individual sports (orienteering, athletics, gymnastics, swimmingand cross-country skiing). At the same time, there is an emphasis on the development of knowledge related to these sports. There is an emphasis in the teaching that takes care of the distinctiveness of sports within selected themes.
Applicants for the study programme must meet the requirements for Higher Education Entrance Qualification or equivalent prior learning and work experience. See information from North University regarding admission based on prior learning and work experience. Upon admission, a valid police certificate must be submitted. Applicants are ranked according to the provisions given in regulations for admission to higher education. Admission takes place through national coordinated admission.
KNOWLEDGE
- In-depth knowledge of basic skills and various specific factors for skills development in orienteering, athletics, swimming and gymnastics.
- Knowledge about the principles of skills development in individual sports that can be used and implemented in other sports contexts.
SKILLS
- Can demonstrate one's own skills and development of one's own skills within the sports orienteering, athletics, swimming and gymnastics.
- Can explain which factors are essential for achievement in the sports orienteering, athletics, swimming and gymnastics.
- Is able to analyse and assess key concepts in sports orienteering, athletics, swimming and gymnastics.
GENERAL COMPETENCY
- Has the ability to analyse different sports from the perspectives of physiology, anatomy, and the theories of exercise and movement.
- Has the ability to assess general and specific factors related to training in individual sports.
No tuition fees. Semester fees and cost of course literature apply.
The programme takes place in different learning arenas: at the university and in various sports arenas in the municipality. The student is expected to contribute actively through participation, collaboration and interest in order to create a good learning and skills development environment. Based on theory and practice, students will achieve the learning outcomes set for the subject through practical instruction, guidance and personal training. The course's work plan defines this in more detail for each type of sport.
Evaluation using mid-term and final surveys. Students are also encouraged to participate in the central quality surveys.
