Performance and Skill Development in Sports and Physical Activity

IVB310

Admission takes place on the basis of Higher Education Entrance Qualification or prior learning and work experience in accordance with applicable rules.

The course is open to incoming exchange students from Nord University's partner institutions, enrolled in related programmes of study.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Be able to apply and reflect on key theories in natural science and social sciences topics, and the opportunities and limitations they entail for performance in sports and physical activity.

SKILLS

  • Can analyse and understand requirements, and see the opportunities and limitations for performance in different sports at a high level on the basis of theory.

GENERAL COMPETENCE

  • Has the ability to analyse and understand opportunities and limitations for skills and performance developments in sports on the basis of natural science and social sciences theories.
No tuition fees. Semester fees and cost of course literature apply.
Compulsory course. Theoretical course.
Based on research and scientific theory, through lectures, lab activities, practical work, case-based problem solving, group work, academic supervision and individual initiative, the students shall achieve the learning outcomes set for the course. Participation and active collaboration between the students is required in order to achieve the desired outcome statements we have set for the course. The course’s work schedule defines the learning activities in more detail.
Evaluation using mid-term and final surveys. Students are also encouraged to participate in the central quality surveys.

Compulsory participation (OD):

  • Sports physiology: participation in lab and practical work, must be approved to qualify for a final grade in the course.
  • Motor behaviour: participation in lab and practical work, must be approved to qualify for a final grade in the course.
  • Sports physiology: participation in lab and practical work must be approved to qualify for a final grade in the course.

Assessment task (AK): 3 coursework requirements that must be approved to qualify for a final grade in the course.

Written school examination (S): Grading scale A-F

NOTE: Spring 2022: The written school examination has been changed to home examination. The duration of the exam has changed to 7 hours.

Changes are done due to the Covid-19 epidemic, in accordance with the “Provisional Regulation on a Supplement to Regulations of 28/10/2020 no. 2474 Relating to Studies and Examinations at Nord University - Extraordinary Measures as a consequence of the Coronavirus pandemic” - according to Section 2 Forms of assessment 1-4.
