The student will gain knowledge of and skills in cross-aesthetic learning processes for professional work in arts and crafts. The course emphasises student-active interaction processes in workshops, production premises and in other arenas. Through multimodal play practices and theoretical and practical reflections, the student will gain insight into the relationships between their own and others’ creative work. In a synergy between professional practice, subject theory, subject tradition and workshop activity, a conscious attitude will develop towards the content of the subject and its relevance and value for school and society in a future perspective.
The course is reserved for students of teacher education in practical and aesthetic subjects for steps 1-13, music.
KNOWLEDGE
The student
- has insight into how perception and semiotics contribute to understanding contemporary multi-cultural forms of expression in which characters, symbols and decor give meaning, identity and a sense of belonging, for example, within Sami arts and craft (duodji)
- has knowledge of form, colour and composition, as well as various media, tools and techniques as a basis for understanding art-historical traditions, the characteristics of art and its significance in society
- has knowledge of the learning situations and environment for children and young people as a basis for creativity, innovation, recycling and sustainability from a socio-ethical perspective
- has knowledge of how children and young people learn with their bodies and senses, and how research on play and learning forms a basis for subject-didactic trials and theoretical reflections
SKILLS
The student
- can develop ideas and forms using techniques and tools in two and three dimensional media (paper, clay, wood, textiles, plastic) in light of recycling and sustainability, and be familiar with Sami arts and craft (duodji)
- can explore analogue and digital media in multimodal contexts, through animation, social platforms, virtual exhibitions and educational documentation
- can guide children and young people in their own practical creative work in two and three-dimensional forms of expression, based on a reflective attitude to and advanced knowledge of the subject and the role of the teacher
- can plan, compose and communicate their own and others’ forms of expression through different kinds of exhibitions
- can apply and critically assess new digital media as a working form, process documentation and the content of creative processes
GENERAL COMPETENCE
The student
- can contribute to a diverse and relational learning environment in workshops, classrooms and other arenas
- has knowledge of the regulations relating to copyright, data protection and source criticism, and searching and using trustworthy sources that are relevant to the field
- has knowledge of HSE procedures in different classrooms
- is aware of how children and young people can be involved in learning and assessment practices
In addition to the semester fee and course literature, students are expected to provide their own laptop computer. There is also a materials fee of NOK 400.
Practical and theoretical topic. Elective.
The teaching is organised as individual teaching, joint classes, group projects and seminars.
Evaluation using mid-term and final surveys. Students are also encouraged to participate in the central quality surveys.
Mandatory participation (OD): 80%. Mandatory participation must be approved in order to take the exam.
Coursework requirements (AK): A total of five practical, oral and written coursework requirements. Coursework requirements must be approved before receiving a final grade in the subject.
Portfolio (MA): Practical individual creative work, as well as a visual and written log. Exhibition or digital presentation of portfolio. Oral conversation about portfolio. Represents 100% of the grade. A-F.
