HSE and Risk Assessment

KJE5001
The course will provide an introduction to the principles of risk assessment and health and safety working practices in the lab and field work. Each student will risk assess their own thesis, and consider how it can be completed in a safe and sound manner with respect to safety. The course is also a continuation of KJ301F Laboratory Safety master and provides a refresher on different types of safety equipment, chemical registration, biological risk factors, faculty waste procedures, and best practices with respect to safety in the laboratory and in the field.
Reserved for master and doctoral students of the Faculty of Biosciences and Aquaculture

  • Have a thorough knowledge of the dangers that can occur in the field and laboratory work
  • Can analyze issues around safety and risk assess their own master thesis
  • Can apply knowledge to choose the right safety protection in connection with own research

Mandatory:

Master in Biology and Aquaculture

The course is compulsory for master students and runs over two half-days. The course combines lectures and exercises.
The study programme is evaluated annually by students by way of course evaluation studies (mid-term evaluation and final evaluation). These evaluations are included in the universitys quality assurance system.
