Management

LED1001
The course introduces various management topics and theories, as well as a thorough discussion of selected key concepts. The course highlights the management of organizations and the relationship to the environment. These processes examined from various angles on the basis of management theories. Introduction to basic ethical theory to illuminate and problematize the concept of social responsibility.

It is possible to apply for admission to the course as a single course. There are reservations about the available capacity on the course. The applicant must meet the current admission requirements for the Bachelor's degree in economics and management.

Knowledge:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of management topics and theories;
  • Use and discuss management theories and principles in the cases;
  • Have basic knowledge of ethical theories and ethical tools;
  • Understand (social, environmental and economic) challenges and issues related to management;
  • Understand basic principles of leadership at the individual (leader), group (team), organizational and inter-organizational level.

Skills:

  • Can analyze management issues and discuss possible solutions;
  • Can shed light on practice-relevant issues using relevant theory;
  • Can find, familiarize him/herself with and refer correctly to relevant professional literature;
  • Can explain different understandings of the concept of social responsibility;
  • Can explain the concepts of innovation and entrepreneurship

General competence:

  • Can use relevant ethical theories and tools to put specific issues and situations in perspective;
  • Has developed the ability for critical reflection;
  • Can think and write analytically and convey key subject matter;
  • Can work independently with professional issues;
  • Can use and understand English to be able to discuss management topics in an international context
Paid semester fee and syllabus literature. It is also required that students have a laptop at their disposal.
Compulsory
Lectures, digital learning methods (Smart-book & Interactive tutorials).
The study programme is evaluated annually by students by way of course evaluation studies. These evaluations are included in the university's quality assurance system.

Compound assessment, with the grading scale A-F.

  • The course is built on the peer-teaching model. It requires mandatory attendance at a minimum of four peer-teaching sessions, including the session for which your student group is responsible (Assignment 1). This specific session is considered equally important to the exam date, given that the student group receives a grade based on the group’s performance.

Partial Assessments (Contributes 100% of the final grade):

  • Portfolio (Group) - Contributes 50% of the final grade, graded A-F:

    • Assignment 1: Peer-teaching, oral in a group, 25% of final grade, A-F.
    • Assignment 2: Applied Management Case, written in the same group, 25% of final grade, A-F.
  • Written School Exam (4 hours, individual) - Contributes 50% of the final grade, A-F.

Simple calculator, and bilingual dictionaries. Generating an answer using ChatGPT or similar artificial intelligence and submitting it wholly or partially as one's own answer is considered cheating.

Overlap refers to a similarity between courses with the same content. Therefore, you will receive the following reduction in credits if you have taken the courses listed below:
