Introduction to Knowledge, Organization and Leadership
In accordance with the regulations of 2005 concerning the requirements for a master's degree from section 5 of the Ministry of Education and Research: The admission requirements for experience-based master's degrees of 90 or 120 credits are the following:
- bachelor's degree
- cand.mag.
- other degree or vocational training of a minimum 3 years in scope
- education which has been approved as being equivalent to the above mentioned degrees or educational programmes, pursuant to Section 3-5 of the Norwegian Act relating to Universities and University Colleges
Because this is an experience-based master's degree, in addition to requirements for education, at least two years of relevant vocational experience is also required. The institution stipulates what is relevant vocational experience. In this context, relevant practice is documented competence within the field of management and organisation.
No prerequisite knowledge apart from the admission requirements.
After completing the course, candidates will have attained the following learning outcomes defined in knowledge, skills and general competence.
Candidate knowledge:
- has advanced knowledge of different knowledge perspectives and understandings of organisation and management
- has in-depth knowledge of various scientific perspectives and theories within the subjects of organisation and management
- can apply knowledge in order to reflect on their own and others’ managerial practice based on different perspectives and theories
- can identify and analyse knowledge-related issues based on different scientific perspectives and theories within the subject area of organisation and management
Candidate skills:
- can analyse and discuss by utilising different theories and perspectives within the field organisation and management, and be able to critically reflect on the strengths and weaknesses of theories.
- can work independently on solving practical problems in their own and others’ enterprises by using theory and methodology within the field of organisation and management
Candidate general competence:
- can analyse relevant ethical knowledge-related issues associated with the knowledge manager’s role
- can convey independent work both in writing and orally, and master key terminology used in the subject area
- can use specific examples to illustrate and explain general theoretical models and concepts related to knowledge work
Compulsory coursework requirements - all coursework must be approved in order to take the examination
- 2 compulsory papers.
Final assessment:
- Home examination, group, 5 days, grading scale A-F, counts for 100%
Group 2-3 students. Examination in May. Two examiners, of which at least one is an external examiner.
