Master's Thesis
In accordance with the regulations of 2005 concerning the requirements for a master's degree from section 5 of the Ministry of Education and Research: The admission requirements for experience-based master's degrees of 90 or 120 credits are the following:
- bachelor's degree
- cand.mag.
- other degree or vocational training of a minimum 3 years in scope
- education which has been approved as being equivalent to the above mentioned degrees or educational programmes, pursuant to Section 3-5 of the Norwegian Act relating to Universities and University Colleges
Because this is an experience-based master's degree, in addition to requirements for education, at least two years of relevant vocational experience is also required. The institution stipulates what is relevant vocational experience. In this context, relevant practice is documented competence within the field of management and organisation.
In order to begin the course, all courses at master’s level (MKL110, MKL120, MKL210 and MKL220) must be passed. This applies also to all compulsory coursework requirements. The course is reserved for the students admitted to the master's programme in Knowledge Management.
After completing the course, candidates will have attained the following learning outcomes defined in knowledge, skills and general competence:
Candidate knowledge:
- has in-depth knowledge of what characterises a scientific thesis
- has knowledge of ethical research guidelines
Candidate skills:
- can write a research report that meets scientific thesis requirements
- can make an academically justified choice of theory and research methodology
- can follow ethical research guidelines
- can document and produce findings from a survey in a scientific manner
Candidate general competence:
- has insight into and be able to use scientific theories and methodologies at a high level
- is able to select and apply research design in a major research project
Final assessment:
- Master's thesis, group, grading scale A-F, counts for 100%
Group (2-3 students). Scope of 100-120 pages. Time period: autumn of the final year. Two examiners, of which at least one is an external examiner.
An individual oral hearing will be held following the submission of the assignment. A grade is given to the task, which may be adjusted on the basis of the oral hearing. The thesis must be assessed to be passed before an oral hearing is held.
