Ranger Topics

NKO1251

Through this course, students are to acquire knowledge of preservation-related issues related to selected ecosystems. The course further emphasises different methods for registration, mapping and monitoring of species and types of nature, including those characterised as threatened by extinction and vulnerable. Students will also be trained in various practical skills during the course.

Course contents:

  • preservation tasks related to selected types of nature and protection areas
  • preservation tasks related to selected groups of plants and animals
  • action plans for threatened and vulnerable species and types of landscapes, including focus on key species and indicator species
  • safe and considerate passage in different ecosystems through various seasons
Students must meet current admission requirements for the associated study program.

Upon successful completion of this course, the candidate:

Knowledge:

  • has knowledge of working with different preservation-related issues related to selected types of nature and protected areas

Skills:

  • has acquired the skills required for working with the practical aspects of nature preservation, including safe and considerate passage in nature through all seasons

General competence:

  • can actively participate in relevant preservation work, such as e.g. registration, mapping and surveillance of nature

Compulsory
Lectures, excursions, field courses and exercises.
Evaluated annually by students through course surveys. These evaluations are included in the university’s quality assurance system.
