Cultural Monument Management

This course provides students with an introduction to the organizing and practical conduct of cultural heritage preservation. Emphasis is placed on familiarising students with current legislation as well as preservation-specific issues related to this.
Contents:
- human history and dating of various forms of cultural Heritage
- cultural heritage management
- cultural heritage legislation
- knowledge of selected preservation-related issues
- sami cultural Heritage
- practical cultural heritage preservation
Students must meet current admission requirements for the associated study program.
Upon successful completion of this course, the student:
Knowledge:
- has knowledge of relevant laws and regulations
- has knowledge of different forms of cultural heritage
Skills:
- can apply law to cultural heritage preservation
- can identify and date selected cultural heritage objects
General competence:
- has insight of relevant legislation and regulations related to cultural heritage
- has knowledge of the structure of cultural heritage preservation management
No tuition fees. Semester fees and cost of course literature apply.
Compulsory
Lectures, group work and excursions. Large sections of teaching is provided in the form of field trips.
Evaluated annually by students through course surveys. These evaluations are included in the university’s quality assurance system.
All aids permitted.
No prior knowledge is required beyond the admission requirement.
