Norwegian Language and Grammar
The students will be given a basic introduction to Norwegian official language (bokmål). The course starts at beginner level, but the progression will be relatively fast. Oral practice will be central, and the course requires a high degree of participation from the students. The students participate in conversation groups, answer questions, and give individual presentations.
Important course elements are:
- Basic grammar: morphology and syntax
- Vocabulary
- Rules of pronunciation
- Reading, speaking and answering questions in class
- Own work as homework and written assignments
KNOWLEDGE
After completing the course the student should
have knowledge about the Norwegian language on elemantary level.
SKILLS
After completing the course the student should:
- Be able to listen and understand freqently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. family, housing, education and work)
- Be able to read simple texts with information about basic topics
- Be able to interact in conversations with simple information on familiar topics and activities
- Be able to express oneself orally and be able to use several phrases and sentences in order to describe familiar and routine matters
- Be able to write simple texts, notes and messages
QUALIFICATION
Level A2 - elementary (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
Written examination, 6 hours
Oral examination, 20 minutes

NO204L - Norwegian for Foreigners - Advanced - 10 credits
