Norwegian for Foreigners - Advanced

Are you looking to develop your competence in Norwegian? In this course we work with grammar and with different texts on A2 level.
In the course the student will gain a more thorough knowledge of Norwegian language on basic level: A2 level (CEFR). We work with various texts, both fiction and social sciences. Both oral and written practice will be central. Important elements in teaching will be: Basic grammar (morphology and syntax), vocabulary, rules of pronunciation, reading, speaking and answering questions in class, and own work as homework and written assignments.
The course is available for degree- and exchange students and for employees at the university. Admission requirement: General study competence and completed and passed exam in NO106L Norwegian for Foreigners.
Requirement: Completed NO106L Norwegian for Foreigners (or documented competence of Norwegian or of having completed a course equal to NO106L).

The learning outcome descriptions correspond to requirements for level A2 - elementary level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Knowledge

The student

  • has knowledge about the Norwegian language on A2 level (elemantary level).

Skills

The student

  • is able to listen and understand freqently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. family, housing, education and work)
  • is able to read simple texts with information about basic topics
  • is able to interact in conversations with simple information on familiar topics and activities
  • is able to express oneself orally and be able to use several phrases and sentences in order to describe familiar and routine matters
  • is able to write simple texts, notes and messages

General competence

The student

• can understand and use familiar, everyday expressions and very simple statements about themselves and what is familiar and close.

• can participate in very simple, familiar interaction situations if the interaction partners adapt the language and are supportive.

In addition to the semester fee and syllabus literature, students are required to have a laptop at their disposal.
Elective.

Lectures, group work, oral presentations and role play.

All activities are on campus.

The course is evaluated annually. This is part of the university's quality assurance system.

Composite assessment (SV) - all parts must be approved/passed to get a grade in the course.

Written school exam (SK): Individual exam, duration 4 hours. Counts 50% of the grade. Grade rule A-F, where A is the best grade and F fails. SK must be passed to take the oral exam.

Oral exam (MU): Individual, duration 20 minutes. Counts 50% of the grade. Grade rule A-F, where A is the best grade and F fails.
