Are you looking to grow your competence in Norwegian? In this course we work with difterent texts, for example fiction. Oral practice is central and students are required and expected to participate actively in different ways, for instance in group discussions and give individual oral presentations.

The students will gain a more thorough knowledge of Norwegian official language (¿bokmål¿). We work with various texts, both fiction and social sciences. Oral practice will be central, and the subject requires a high degree of participation from the students. The students participates in conversation groups, answer questions, and give individual presentations. Important elements in teaching will be: Basic grammar: morphology and syntax Vocabulary Rules of pronunciation Reading, speaking and answering questions in class Own work as homework and written assignments

The course is available for degree- and exchange students and for employees at the university. Admission requirement: General study competence and completed and passed exam in NO106L Norwegian for Foreigners.

In order to take this course, the student must first have completed the following course: NO106L, 10 credits, or similar.

Upon successful completion of this course, the students will have obtained basic knowledge about: Rules of pronunciation Syntax in Norwegian language Main rules for the central parts of speech, as verb, noun, pronoun and adjective Dialects, `nynorsk¿ (the other official language in Norway), and a brief summary of the external language history Selected parts of Norwegian literature The students will get basic skills in Norwegian language (bokmål) and will be able to: Produce texts in an intermediate level Read a Norwegian text and demonstrate they understand the content through retelling and answering questions Express themselves orally, and understand spoken language to such an extent that they can easily converse on topics from everyday life The students will get general competence in Norwegian language on a basic level and: Will be able to understand a Norwegian text (bokmål) Will be able to write a Norwegian text (bokmål) Will be able to understand and participate in a conversation in Norwegian (bokmål)

No costs except semester registration fee and syllabus literature.</

Elective

Lectures, 4 hours a week.

The study programme is evaluated annually by students by way of course evaluation studies (mid-term evaluation and final evaluation). These evaluations are included in the university¿s quality assurance system.

Composite assessment (SV) - all parts must be approved/passed to get a grade in the course.

Written school exam (SK): Individual exam, duration 4 hours. Counts 50% of the grade. Grade rule A-F, where A is the best grade and F fails. SK must be passed to take the oral exam.

Oral exam (MU): Individual, duration 20 minutes. Counts 50% of the grade. Grade rule A-F, where A is the best grade and F fails.

Bi-lingual dictionary is not allowed at the exam.
