Knowledge
The candidate:
- has knowledge of the language system and its usage
- has knowledge about linguistic identity, Norwegian as a second language and multilingual practice
- has knowledge about literary theory and didactics, as well as a selection of fiction in different genres and medium, with emphasis on children`s and youth literature. Sami texts will be included
- has extensive knowledge about educational methods in reading and writing in primary education
- has knowledge about mapping, national tests and teaching materials for grades 1-7, both digital and otherwise
Skills
The candidate:
- can use knowledge about language in literacy work and explain didactic decisions that promote oral and written development in all pupils
- can use a range of methods in reading and writing education and adapted education, conduct mapping and assessment for all pupils
- can plan, conduct and evaluate teaching, including oral activities, for all pupils
- can evaluate different teaching materials, digital and otherwise
- can write academic texts in Nynorsk and Bokmål
General competence
The candidate:
- can facilitate pupils to become competent users of language, written and oral, who can participate actively in and beyond the classroom
- can evaluate his/her own practice with respect to current curricula, professional knowledge and didactic insight
Learning activities and teaching methods include:
- Individual and group study
- Lectures
- Testing and assessment tasks
- Practical and aesthetic approaches
- Seminars
- Oral and written presentations
Active participation is encouraged. E-learning is an important part of the programme. Online activities supplement traditional learning activities.
Assessment aims to demonstrate achievement of learning outcomes. Some activities are defined as compulsory.
Reflection upon teaching practice also forms an important part of students` development as teachers.
Individual written exam (SK/S): Grading scale: A-F. 100 % of letter grade.
Compulsory participation (OD): Attendance in least 80% of all teaching. Grading scale: approved / not approved.
Assessment task (AK): The students will submit various work done individually and in groups. Grading scale: approved / not approved. Compulsory work must be passed before students take the final examination.
NOTE: Spring 2022: The written school examination has been changed to home examination.
