OR235F
The course introduces students to a wide selection of theories within the field of management, human resource management and human resource policy, and also understand the organization in a wider context.  The course provides a relevant academic foundation for understanding the role of the manager and for practicing management in small and medium-sized organisations, in accordance with good practice.

Knowledge:

The student:

  • has knowledge about the development of the field of human resource management.
  • has knowledge about management and positive managerial behaviours/approaches.
  • has knowledge about principles and approaches that promote learning and professional development within organisations.

Skills:

The student:

  • can explain key concepts within the field.
  • can differentiate between different perspectives within management theory.
  • can analyse and evaluate different methods of assessment during recruitment.
  • can direct and conduct a performance appraisal/staff interview.

  • can reflect critically upon problems and challenges associated with management, including ethical issues, internationalization and diversity in the workplace.
