Strategy and Business Consulting
This is an introductory course in strategy and business consulting. After completing the course, students will:
- Provide students with a theoretical and practical basis which enables them to act as financial advisers, business advisers and consultants
- Possess knowledge of key concepts and theories in strategic studies.
- Viewing understanding of how businesses create, deliver and hijacks value.
Knowledge
The student should have:
- knowledge of strategic analysis and analytic tools
- knowledge of strategy development, strategic management and decision making
- knowledge of innovating business models
- knowledge of appropriate tools for business advice
- knowledge of various consultant roles
- knowledge og development and implementation of a consulting assignment
Skills
The student should be able to understand and:
- identify different advisor roles and see their own role: as an expert, finance / business consultant and process consultant
- identify ethical dilemmas one will meet as a management consultant
- identify economic danger signals in enterprises
- review the principal need for problem solving
- use elemental strategic analytical methods (internal and external factors)
- create a project description for a consulting project
General competence
The student should be able to:
- work independently and in cooperation with others as a consultant / advisor to a project based on an engineering problem and with external clients
- discuss technical issues in relation to practical case
- compose an independent written work individually or in groups
