The student will learn about
- Concepts, models and theories in political science
- Political decision-making processes
- The Norwegian political system on central as well as local level
- Political parties in Norway
- The Nordic and Norwegian Welfare Model
- Policy and politics on local level
- Contested issues in contemporary Norway
Skills
The student will learn
- How to analyze political processes
- How to participate in political decision-making processes
- How values and principles are characterizing the political system of Norway
- How contemporary challenges for the Norwegian welfare system are approached
General competence
The student will
- Have a better understanding of how the Norwegian political system works.
- Be able to use concepts in an accurate manner.
- Get knowledge and insights to participate in public discussion in a significant way
No costs except semester registration fee and syllabus literature.
Compulsory for the one-year programme Norwegian Language and Society. For other student at other programmes is the course elective
Lectures and seminars
The study programme is evaluated annually by students by way of course evaluation studies (mid-term evaluation and final evaluation). These evaluations are included in the university's quality assurance system.
THe exam can be answerd in English, Norwegian, Swdish or Danish.
