Gradually the student will work independently with basic animal care, as well as take responsibility for daily routines in the placement clinic.
Gradually the student will work independently with basic animal care, as well as take responsibility for daily routines in the placement clinic. The student will prepare and assist during medical procedures, diagnostic imaging, surgery and anaesthesia. There will be a final exam in the beginning of January, a objective structured clinical exam
For students admitted to the Bachelor in Veterinary Nursing at Nord University only.
Knowledge
- broad knowlegde of key isssues, procedures, instruments and methods in veterinary nursing
Skills
- be abel to monitor and assess the status of patients with minor medical problems
- know the procedures for monitoring, assessing and caring for critically ill patients
- know the principles of first aid
- be abel to administer drugs in different ways and fluids
- be able to prepare and perform the relevant diagnostiv imaging procedures
- be able to prepare patients, facilities and equipment for surgery
- be abel to assist during medical and surgical procedures and anaesthesia
General competence
- be able to follow different types of patients from arrival to delivery, including informing owners
- themselves be able to get to know and carry out all daily routines, including instruments, in a companion animal clinic
- be able to ensure the safety of the patient and staff inn all procedures
- can discuss and share experiences with other professionals in veterinary nursing and hence contribute to the improvement of clinical work
No tuition fees. Costs for semester registration and course literature apply. The university require that students have a laptop.
The student will have to cover travel and accomodation expenses.
Compulsory and only for Bachelor in Veterinary Nursing.
Evaluation using mid-term and final surveys. Students are also encouraged to participate in the central quality surveys.
