Introduction to Forestry
SKO120
The course contains the following topics:
- forest ecological factors
- forest and vegetation types
- forest management
- central laws, regulations and standards
- the value chain of the forestry industry
- basic forest measurements
- private and public forest management
Admission is based on general competance from studies or specific competance in this area, in line with the relevant regulations.
After completing the course, students will have obtained the following learning outcomes:
Knowledge:
- have a good knowledge of the value chain of the skating industry
- have basic knowledge of forest management.
- have good knowledge of private and public forest management
Skills:
- be able to apply relevant legislation and standards, and perform logging and measurements in forests that can form the basis for choice of type of forest management and reforestation methods
General competence:
- Understand the connection between forest ecology and forest production
No tuition fees. Semester fees and cost of course literature apply. Deductibles may incur for some non mandatory excursions.
Elective
Lectures, field trips and field exercises.
Evaluation using mid-term and final surveys. Students are also encouraged to participate in the central quality surveys.
There is no previous knowledge needed beyond that described in the admission requirements.
Overlap refers to a similarity between courses with the same content. Therefore, you will receive the following reduction in credits if you have taken the courses listed below:
