Diversity and Gender

SOS1004
The course provides an introduction to diversity and gender studies by presenting the main lines of Norwegian and international social science research on gender, diversity, gender equality and ethnicity based on different theoretical traditions. Questions about diversity and gender touch on a number of key societal challenges. The course provides insight into understandings that the social sciences can offer to meet such challenges. Moreover, the course presents new empirical research on gender, ethnicity, diversity and gender equality and provides an introduction to the use of analytical tools to understand diversity and (in)equality-creating processes.
Basic requirement for university admission.
No costs except semester registration fee and course literature. It is required that students possess their own laptop.
Elective course
The study programme is evaluated annually by students by way of course evaluation studies (mid-term evaluation and final evaluation). These evaluations are included in the university's quality assurance system.
