This course develops skills in cross-cultural communication using English. Students are guided in speaking, listening, writing, and reading, using course materials illustrating English as it is used around the world, both as a native language and as a lingua franca. Students gain confidence in reflecting on and communicating what they have learned through the study abroad experience, and competence in the use of English in future academic and non-academic contexts.
The course is compulsory in the package Experience English Language and Literature. The course can also be taken separately by international students at Nord.

Weekly classes on speaking, listening, writing, and reading comprehension. Required course materials will be made available on Canvas. Participation is not compulsory, although students must deliver one in-class presentation to a passing standard in order to be eligible for the examination.
The study program is evaluated annually by the students through course evaluations and study program evaluation. These evaluations are included as part of the university's quality assurance system.
NOTE: Spring 2021: The written school examination has been changed to home examination.
This is done due to the Covid-19 epidemic, in accordance with the Temporary Regulations on Supplements to Regulation 28/10/2020 no. 63: Concerning Studies and Examinations at Nord University - Extraordinary Measures as a Result of the Coronavirus Epidemic- according to §2 of the Corona Epidemic, Assessment Methods, Sections 1-3.
