Through the analysis of an international set of texts written in and translated into English, students develop skills in cross-cultural communication and in the use of English as an academic lingua franca in Norway and beyond.
The course is compulsory in the package Experience English Language and Literature in the autumn of 2022. The course can also be taken separately by international exchange students at Nord, campus Bodø.
No prerequisites.
Students will develop confidence and competence in:
- spoken English
- written academic English
- cross-cultural communication
- reading comprehension of texts in English from around the world

Optional.
Weekly classes on speaking, listening, writing, and reading comprehension. Required course materials will be made available on Canvas. Participation is not compulsory, although students must deliver one in-class presentation to a passing standard in order to be eligible for the examination.
There will be an internal evaluation of the course near the end of term. Centrally administered course evaluations are an important part of the university's quality assurance system and students are strongly encouraged to take part.

NOTE: Spring 2022: The written school examination has been changed to home examination.
Changes are done due to the Covid-19 epidemic, in accordance with the “Provisional Regulation on a Supplement to Regulations of 28/10/2020 no. 2474 Relating to Studies and Examinations at Nord University - Extraordinary Measures as a consequence of the Coronavirus pandemic” - according to Section 2 Forms of assessment 1-4.
