Business English

SP203L
The course develops skills in cross-cultural communication using English in a business environment. 
Higher Education Entrance Qualification and English language proficiency
General study admission.

Through the course, students acquire:

Knowledge of

  • Current events, concepts, themes and structures within international business life
  • English language norms in different cultural and social contexts

Skills

  • Use of correct and relevant vocabulary and terminology
  • Ability to function effectively within an international environment
  • Ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practical contexts

General competence

  • Good practical language, both written and oral
  • Good intercultural understanding
No special costs beyond semester fee and course literature.

Mandatory course for 1st year students -  bachelor international marketing

Elective course for other students at Nord University

Weekly classes on speaking, listening, writing, and reading comprehension. The textbook is required for weekly assignments and additional course materials will be made available on Canvas. Participation is not compulsory, although students must deliver weekly assignments and one in-class presentation to a passing standard in order to be eligible for the examination.
There will be an internal evaluation of the course near the end of term. Centrally administered course evaluations are an important part of the University's quality assurance system and students are strongly encouraged to take part.

Compulsary work must be done before writing the exam.

NOTE: Spring 2022: The written school examination has been changed to home examination.

Changes are done due to the Covid-19 epidemic, in accordance with the “Provisional Regulation on a Supplement to Regulations of 28/10/2020 no. 2474 Relating to Studies and Examinations at Nord University - Extraordinary Measures as a consequence of the Coronavirus pandemic” - according to Section 2 Forms of assessment 1-4.
