The master’s thesis constitutes a written report based on an independent piece of research work that specialises in a topic within the field of adapted education.
Requires admission to the Master in Adapted Education programme of study, and the students must have passed a minimum of 30 ECTS during the first year of the master program.
Knowledge - The candidate will have:
- Advanced knowledge about adapted education at individual and system levels.
- Specialised insight into a delimited subject area throughout the master’s thesis.
- In-depth knowledge about relevant research and theory, scientific thinking, research methods and ethics.
Skills - The candidate will be able to:
- Carry out, evaluate and disseminate an independent, delimited research project while under supervision, and in accordance with applicable research ethics norms.
- Analyse and apply existing theories, methods and interpretations within the subject area and work independently with practical and theoretical problem solving in the master’s thesis.
- Analyse and relate critically to national and international research. General competence - The candidate will be able to:
- Disseminate their own research work in accordance with the subject area’s scientific forms of expression.
- Communicate about academic issues, analyses and conclusions that are relevant to their own master’s thesis.
- Contribute to innovation and innovative processes through their own master’s thesis.
No fees other than semester fees and course literature.
Compulsory
Individual and group supervision in accordance with faculty guidelines. Submission of a project outline forms the basis for topic approval and the allocation of a supervisor. The candidate then prepares a project description based on established criteria. A supervision contract is entered into between the candidate and the supervisor. Supervision takes place individually and in groups.
The course is evaluated annually by the students in course surveys. These evaluations are part of the University’s quality assurance system.
Composite assessment:
- Assignment (OP): The master’s thesis is assessed using the grading scale A to F, where A is the best grade and F is a fail. Represents 100/100 of the grade.
- Coursework (AK1) - Project presentation - represents 0/100 of the grade, grading scale Approved/Not approved.
- Coursework (AK2) - Project description - represents 0/100 of the grade, grading scale Approved/Not approved.
