I am an Associate Professor in Tourism Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Nord University, Campus Levanger where I also teach and do research.

I am currently one of the principal investigators for the research project Sustainable Arctic Cruise Communities: from practice to governance (2020-2024), financed by the Norwegian Research Council.

My academic interests and expertise related to the questions of sustainability and community-based development of peripheral coastal communities; revitalisation of post-mining landscapes with the help of cultural heritage tourism; indigenous tourism development and electronic representations of indigenous culture and heritage. One of the main geographical areas for my research activites has been Circumpolar Arctic – including both Canadian and European Arctic, with the specific focus on North-western Russia, but also Fennoscandia (Norway, Sweden and Finland) and Greenland.

I moved to Levanger from Sweden where my husband and children live. I also have a "Norwegian" family (my Norwegian friend's parents and her family) living in Båtsfjord and Hammerfest whom I met in 1997 in Arkhangelsk and since than we are staying in touch.

Currently, I am involved in teaching at our one-year studies program in Geography, three-year Bachelor program in Geography and Community Planning. My focus in teaching activities is related to the uses of qualitative methods and techniques, human geography with the focus on regional and local socio-economic development processes, sustainable tourism development and other related topics.
