Jorge Galindo-Villegas
After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology in Mexico, I worked at the NHNM, Smithsonian Institution (USA) before pursuing MSc and PhD studies in Japan in fish immune–nutrition, followed by postdoctoral and academic training in mammalian immunology in Spain. I have supervised numerous graduate and postgraduate students, hosted postdoctoral researchers, and welcomed international visitors, while fostering global collaborations. I have delivered many invited talks worldwide and currently serve as President of ISFSI, Editor-in-Chief of Aquaculture (Elsevier), and member of IUIS-VIC, EFARO, and EATiP.
My research focuses on the microbiome at mucosal interfaces and its role in vertebrate physiology, reproduction, disease prevention, and vaccination. Using zebrafish and non-model teleosts, my lab applies physiological, immunological, and genomic approaches to study host–microbe interactions, revealing conserved mechanisms relevant to fish health and human inflammatory diseases.
