Roy Aksel Waade
Roy A. Waade (1962), is a professor (docent) at Nord University, Levanger. He has a ph.d. on the subject "Soundpainting as a compositional-improvisational tool" (2016) and has published various articles and participated in various research projects, as well as released several records with his own music (see below). Waade has previously been a teacher in primary and secondary schools, in folk high schools and in the culture and art-school (where he has also been principal). He is also active as a musician, arranger, composer and conductor for, among others, fusion bands, choirs and big bands and he has done several National Concert Tours (DKS). He has held various positions in the Norwegian Music Council, been a jury member at various award ceremonies and a course leader in collaboration and improvisation, among others for the Cultural Schools Council and Music in Schools and has been a member of various national curriculum committees under the the Ministry of Education. Waade has also been a guest lecturer in ensemble and improvisation at foreign educational institutions and participated at several international conferences.
Waade teaches at both bachelor's and master's level, in subjects such as playing in ensembles, leadership, composing, arranging and improvisation, scientific theory and method, main and secondary instruments, etc. and he also supervises at master's level.
