The Department of Research and Development at Nord University is dedicated to strengthening the university’s research activities, fostering national and international collaboration, and ensuring high-quality administrative support for researchers and project applications. The department works strategically to increase the university’s external research funding, support key research focus areas, and facilitate innovation and dissemination of research results.
As Head of the Department of Research and Development, I work closely with the Pro-Rector for Research. My responsibilities include supporting the university leadership in research strategy and policy development, enhancing research administrative support functions, and contributing to the increase of external research funding for the university.
In my role, I have personnel responsibility for the department’s staff and ensure that the university has an efficient and well-functioning research support system. I actively work to strengthen research activity by facilitating research collaboration at both national and international levels, as well as promoting and increasing the visibility of Nord’s research.
A key part of my work is also coordinating Nord’s participation in Arctic Six, a strategic collaboration between six universities in the Arctic region. Through this initiative, I contribute to strengthening the university’s position in Arctic research, facilitating international research partnerships, and increasing opportunities for external funding in areas relevant to the Arctic and sustainable development in the north.
With a Ph.D. and postdoctoral research experience in environmental psychology from NMBU, as well as broad experience from both academia and public administration, I have an interdisciplinary background that combines research, leadership, and research policy development. Prior to my current position, I served as the Managing Director of Lister Friluftsråd and as an Advisor at the Norwegian Outdoor Council (Friluftsrådenes Landsforbund).
Through my work, I aim to contribute to Nord’s continued development as a research institution, strengthening its relevance both nationally and internationally, and ensuring it remains a driving force for sustainable development in the region.
