Accredited Teachers take an active and reflective approach to the relationship between learning outcomes, teaching methods, learning activities, and assessment practices. Their development work is documented, and both students and peers are involved in the process.
The evaluation of one's status as a Accredited Teacher is based on three main criteria:
- A strong focus on student learning outcomes
- Systematic and reflective development of teaching and supervision over time
- Collegial conduct and contributions to collective academic development
An Accredited Teacher actively contributes to the academic community and serves as a catalyst for further development. The Accredited Teacher scheme at Nord University recognizes and honors lecturers who have systematically developed their teaching practices over time and serve as role models for others. Each year, new Accredited Teachers are celebrated during the university's annual academic ceremony in September.
Background
The Accredited Teacher scheme is part of Nord University's educational policy efforts. Its goal is to moticate staff to further develop their teaching competence. The scheme also supports Nord University's strategic objectives related to educational quality, as outlined in Strategy 2030, the Operational Plan, and the Development Agreement with the Ministry of Education and Research.
How to apply
At Nord University, applications for Accredited Teacher status are accepted every other year. The call for applications is published on the intranet (inord.no) in mid-September of odd-numbered years, with a deadline of March 1 the following year.
You can read more about the requirements and criteria on the intranet. Each application is reviewed by an expert committee with an external chair and at least one external member.
