Programme description
With Nord University’s international BA Acting and Artistic Production, you can become a creative actor, ready to thrive professionally and face artistic challenges with vision and skill in the performing arts.
Get the training you need to take part in the artistic field and give voice to the stories that people need to hear. Discover your potential in an arts education that focuses on collaboration and ensemble work. You will develop first-class professional skills in acting, movement, voice, singing, music, and engage them in creative projects in theatre, music, and film.
Be a part of a program that has an international outlook in its teaching and has links to performing arts schools, visiting teachers, and professionals both nationally and internationally. The heart of the program is driven by curiosity and a desire to experiment and play. Career opportunities
The theater education educates professional actors. Emphasis is placed on the individual student's individual expression and uniqueness. For three years, students have the opportunity to explore a wide range of themes, inspirations and styles. This will be the start of developing the individual student's artistic signature, which is based on theatrical methods taught throughout the course of the education.

Former students from Nord University have performed on almost all stages of importance in Norway. Former students work or have worked at the National Theater, Trøndelag Theater and Hålogaland Theater, to name a few.
International citizens are welcome to apply for our education.
To be admitted to the study programme, you must have Higher Education Entrance Qualification (GSU) and pass the audition process.

Exemption from the requirement for general university admissions certification
The programme is an arts education, and applicants may be exempted from the requirement for general university admissions certification.
Exemptions apply to applicants who, through the entrance examinations, demonstrate special professional qualifications.
All applicants complete the same entrance examinations, regardless of whether they have general university admissions certification or not.

Offers of admission are based on an assessment of the completed entrance examinations.

The student:
- can master the skills required to work as an actor at a high international level in theatre, film, TV, and other media.
- can apply acting, vocal, movement and musical skills in artistic work.
- can apply their knowledge to make acting and/or artistic choices for different artistic work.
- can research, develop, and employ different styles, and different interpretive and creative methods in producing artistic work.
- can apply their embodied knowledge of interpreting texts to make justified and compelling acting choices.

The student:
- can perform as an actor in a professional production with a competent level of creative autonomy.
- can make creative propositions in artistic work, both individually and in a group.

- can identify their own strengths and weakness and make informed decisions about how to continue growing as a creative actor and artist throughout their professional life.

Guidelines for self-tapes
Make 3 short self-tapes for the application form.
One where you introduce yourself, and 2 monologues that you choose yourself. Please choose 2 monologues that are different and contrasting from each other. You can perform in your native language or any language of your choosing.
Make the films as simple and clear as possible. Remember that we are evaluating your acting skills, not the technical quality of the video.
- Film your personal introduction (≤ 2 minutes): tell us your name, age, where you are from, and why you are applying.
- Film 2 contrasting monologues (≤ 2 minutes each). Before each monologue, give a brief introduction (character, text, and author), (≤ 1 minute).
- Film each monologue in a single take without cuts or edits.
- Ensure the camera is well placed to show your body as well as your face.
- Use good lighting, a neutral space, and ensure clear audio quality.
- Double-check that your video is clear and audible.
Upload the 3 self-tape files onto YouTube or another service, and copy the links onto the application form.
What happens after that 2nd round audition workshop?
Selected candidates go forward to take part in a half-day acting and movement workshop to work with a small group of candidates. The workshop is led by our teaching staff and invited professionals.
Candidates can choose to attend the audition at either of the following locations and dates:
Oslo: 20-26 April 2026
Levanger: 9 May 2026
If you are selected from the Second Round, you will be invited to Nord University’s campus in Levanger for an intensive four-day workshop. This will give you an experience of the course’s approach to acting, allow you to meet current students, and get a feel of the place.

Selection
Notifications of final selections will be sent out by email 30th May 2026. You will either get an offer of a place, a place on the waiting list, or no offer.
Number of study places: 20 per class
What are we looking for? Candidates with a lively acting talent, a thirst to share and collaborate, and clear motivation for the programme. Ideal candidates are:
• Dedicated, playful, and generous.
• Ambitious, curious, and open to challenges.
• Willing to grow and accept constructive feedback.
Our teaching is ensemble-based, so we aim to create a balanced and diverse class in which constructive collaboration with teachers and peers drives the work.
It is assumed that the students have their own laptop. If there is a need for digital communication in the study, webcam and headphones are included as part of standard accessories. The students must cover the costs of this themselves.
For each semester there is a material fee of 1,000 NOK.
