Research Seminars The third and fourth years of the course are largely concerned with work on a larger philosophical text/thesis based on the training in writing scientific texts during the first and second year. Students will use the third and fourth years of the course to work on the thesis and participate in seminars planned by the students themselves. This includes writing a Test article. There is also a supervision seminar where the students present their work during its progression. The presentations take place within the seminar groups.

The schedule for the students' presentations will be made available at the beginning of the sixth semester. Each student will present his or her work twice. The first time will be at the beginning of their work process, after a project plan has been approved and the first phase of the analysis is completed. The second time is a detailed presentation, where the courses philosophy is crystallised, demonstrated and documented.

Admission to the program is required.

The master thesis shall be an independent philosophical research on 80 ¿ 100 pages. The program aims to give the candidate practical training in order to document skills in developing problems that are suitable for research within the field of borderology. The research must be designed with respect to relevant literature, empirical documentation and philosophical method. The work must be done within the prescribed time.

Knowledge The candidate will:

  • have thorough knowledge of political philosophy
  • have thorough knowledge of potential historical, social, economical and political situation in the border zone
  • know of the methods suitable for philosophical research within the field of borderology.
  • have advanced knowledge on how to establish and master philosophical research

Skills The candidate will:

  • be able to develop suitable researchable problems
  • be able to master the relevant philosophical methods and arguments
  • be able to discuss and criticize relevant research by using terms from the field of borderology
  • be able to present written and oral philosophical presentation

General competence The candidate will:

  • acquire understanding how to deliver an independent research project in the field of borderology
  • acquire understanding how to describe the border zone as potential for social development.
  • acquire understanding how to create arenas for cultural dialog
