This course is based on a review of key development features in the historical development of economy as a science as well as a praxis. Emphasis is placed on highlighting and discussing various directions of economy that have been developed to stimulate sustainable development. Differences and similarities between ecologic economy, green economy, circuit economy and circular economy are highlighted and discussed. Main emphasis will be placed on analyzing which areas of and to what extent ecologic economy can contribute to sustainable development on macro-level (economic system), meso level (corporate management) and micro level (private economy). The connection between local, regional and global challenges to society and environment will also be highlighted, with an emphasis on ecologic economy.

Must fulfill the requirements for admission to the two year Master of Science in Business program.
Upon successful completion of this course, the student:
Knowledge:
- Has thorough knowledge of the historical development of economy as a subject, and can use this knowledge to understand the connection between economic theory and sustainable economic praxis
- Can evaluate how different economic paradigms affect choice of tools to contribute to sustainable development
- Has thorough knowledge of terms, theories, models and methods relevant to the establishing and operation of different environment management systems.
- Can account for how each company is part of a larger network interacting with society and nature
Skills:
- Can apply his or her knowledge to analyse and work out specific suggestions to how economic, social and environmental challenges can be managed on a socio-economic, corporate economic and private economic level
- Is able to analyse and work out reports touching on the interaction between economy, nature and society, based on thorough knowledge of ecologic economy
- Can argue choice and implementation of relevant environment management systems in various businesses and offices
General competence:
- Can analyse relevant research-ethical issues related to issues in public management, business, households and organisations
- Can conduct systematic research and investigation work based on various forms of sustainable economy
- Can express extensive independent work and masters the forms of expression of the field
Can apply his or her knowledge in ecologic economy to new thinking and innovation of relevance to business and public management

Varies between lectures, case tutoring and dialogue-based methods in which students actively participate in teaching
