A significant part of this course section deals with analysis in relation to the three main types of market instruments: equities, interest rate instruments and derivatives. Pricing, use of instruments and institutional factors will be discussed. The theoretical part includes portfolio analysis, capital asset pricing model (CAPM) and newer alternatives. Moreover, market efficiency and modern asset management principles are also discussed.
Knowledge
The student should
- Have broad knowledge of key issues within interest rate and credit instruments.
- Be able to use and apply different theories, and practical applications, in the tasks and the case
- Be able to understand fundamental sources of return on the rental market, principles of credit analysis and risk analysis of interest rate instruments
- Understand how companies can use the interest and credit market to finance projects, as well as manage risk.
- Understand the importance of credit analysis for a well-functioning economy
- Know and and be able to measure credit risk before historical financial crises
- Understand the properties of asset allocation and the importance of combining several asset classes in a portfolio
Skills
The student should be able to
- Analyze value and risk of bonds, as well as discuss sources of value changes
- Analyze and apply professional knowledge and relevant results from research on practical issues.
- Reflect on your own analyzes
- Use the necessary tools to solve complex issues within interest rate instruments and credit analysis
- Discuss the financing structure from a management perspective
General competence
The student should...
- Be able to plan and carry out projects that extend over time
- Communicate central subjects, as well as solutions both verbally, in writing and through presentations
- Provide necessary tools to solve complex issues related to bonds, credit instruments and alternative investments.
- Know new results and research within key parts of the syllabus.
