Bachelor's Thesis in Financial Business
The thesis may vary, but will normally contain one or more of the following elements:
- A theoretical study based on the available literature
- An empirical survey of an individual or a group of companies, institutions or individuals in which comparisons and analysis are essential.
- Development of a method, model, computer software, etc.
- A study of a specific problem for a company or institution.
For further elaboration of requirements for the research question and execution, see the separate instructions, "BOPP-guide", available on Canvas, and contact the course coordinator for appointment of the supervisor.
On completion of the course the student should:
- Be able to use the theoretical knowledge gained in central areas in the bachelor program and particularly in their area of specialization, and to conduct a survey / study
- Be able to use knowledge of methods to address methodological challenges.
- Be able to reflect critically on a chosen topic within the area of specialization
The thesis may be implemented related to ongoing research projects at the business school or elsewhere. The choice of topics must be discussed and approved by the contact person or the supervisor. The thesis is normally written in the spring semester, but because of the course composition, it may be appropriate for some students to work more systematically with the task in the autumn as well. These students should quickly get in touch with the contact person. Students writing papers in the spring should use the autumn semester to work out relevant issues and do other preliminary work, so that more systematic work with the thesis gets started quickly at the beginning of the semester.
All students will be assigned a supervisor. General rule: Groups of two students. Exemptions to the general rule may be granted after applying to the programme coordinator.
