Mass Casualty Incident Training Course

The course is part of The Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) which is an Erasmus+-supported programme that uses innovative teaching and learning methods. It comprises online classes and a five-day physical meeting.

Nord University will host this programme in collaboration with its consortium partners within Erasmus partnerships

Undergraduate nursing students

The course aims to achieve the following objectives::

Knowledge:

  • Develop knowledge of mass casualty and disaster management
  • Gain knowledge of roles and responsibilities in mass casualty incidents
  • Learn about the primary survey of trauma patients in the emergency department

Skills:

  • Acquire skills to preserve life and health in mass casualty incidents
  • Acquire skills in primary survey of trauma patients

General competences:

  • Enhance cultural competencies and communication skills
  • Understand pre-hospital triage to prioritise casualties
  • Understand roles and responsibilities in trauma managemet
No tuition fees. Semester fees and cost of course literature apply.

Theory course

Combining theory and skill training

Reserved for international students and Bachelor´s nursing students by application

Online Team-Based Learning (TBL) sessions, simulation and skills training
Evaluation at the end of the course in plenary and by questionnaire
Develop an MCI scenario based on the knowledge and experiences gained from the course's learning outcomes
