HIS2005
The course aims to provide students with in-depth training in relevant historical skills in research and dissemination. Training is normally offered in one or more skills, depending on resources, and students choose one skill. The skills offered may change, depending on available staff and current research.
General study competence or practical competence according to current regulations.
Knowledge
- The student knows a specific set of skills in historical research or the dissemination and uses of history.
- The student is familiar with the historiography related to the relevant skills.
- The student has knowledge of current methodological and/or theoretical discussions in the relevant field of skills.
Skills
- The student is able to demonstrate the acquired skills.
- The student is able to demonstrate the ability to apply these skills in research and/or dissemination.
- The student is able to find relevant sources and literature.
General competence
- The student is able to design a small project for research or dissemination utilising the trained skills.
- The student is be able to execute this project.
- The student is able to convey the findings of the project in a written assignment.
None other than semester fee and syllabus literature.
Compulsory for the bachelor in history. Elective for other students.
Lectures, seminars, oral presentations, writing, project work and assignments.
Annual evaluations that are included in the university’s quality assurance system.
Compulsory assignment: Written assignment of about 3 pages (about 1200 words), comprises 0/100 of the grade. Graded pass/no pass
Written assignment of 8-10 pages, comprises 100/100 of the grade. Graded A-F
The exam can be answered either in Norwegian or in English.
Some of the course literature will be in English.
