The subject gives an introduction to craftsmanship, processes within art and design, visual communication  and cultural understanding. The subject emphasizes working practical with two- and three-dimensional forms.

KNOWLEDGE

The candidate 

  • has knowledge of relevant materials, techniques, equipment and aesthetic tools, with main emphasis on three-dimensional forms of expression
  • has knowledge of children`s two- and three-dimensional forms of expression and related theories of aesthetic learning, experience, play and creativity, with main emphasis on three-dimensional forms of expression
  • has knowledge within digital forms of expression, as well as how digital media can influence individuals and society

SKILLS

The candidate 

  • can work constructively with idea development, materials, techniques for documentation and evaluation, including of their own creative processes, with with main emphasis on three-dimensional forms of expression
  • can use digital tools in varied situations throughout a process
  • can use digital tools and medias in order to make expressions, by expressing through image processing and video editing

GENERAL PRACTICE

The candidate 

  • is familiar with experiential learning methods and has insight into how independent research and creative ways of working can help solve various form-related problem 
  • can utilize student diversity as a basis for adapted education 
  • can include other subjects in practical, theoretical and didactic cooperation and generate interdisciplinary and scientific exploratory work and theory 
  • can explain how creative work with materials challenges senses, engages emotions, requires concentration and activates the body.

Costs of material NOK 400,-

Elective
Teaching methods vary between lectures, individual work, group work, exhibitions and oral presentations. Documentation of work processes can occur through analogue and/or digital logs. Candidates are required to carry out a significant amount of independent study.
Evaluation using mid-term and final surveys. Students are also encouraged to participate in the central quality surveys.
The student needs to plan and teach some arts and craft during the period.
  • Portfolio (MA): Portfolio including visual log 100% of overall grade. Grading scale: A-F.
  • Assessment task (AK): Practical, oral and written coursework must be approved before the exam.
  • Compulsory participation in at least 80% of all teaching
